On the one hand, our "instinct to mother" is very strong but doesn't really see the "big picture reality" of 18+ years of parenting and ALL that goes with. Babies are indeed cute and lovable, but so are puppies and kittens. All have "developmental issues" that must be addressed as time progresses. Kind of like marriage........ [Oops, did I say that out loud?] This is a complex issue on so many levels.
