I have – no had – this problem with new nextdoor neighbors in my building. After getting zero help from our management company and discovering the dog owners were complete assholes (shocking) I alerted the city and any authority who would hear me!

Don’t wait to take affirmative action – TRUST ME! All cities have noise ordinaces and as a tax-paying citizen you do not have to put up with it! Let them do their job, someone is assigned to these exact cases, I promise you.

I would make daily calls as the dogs were barking to officials and to anyone who would take my call. Then I also wrote to my city council, the local animal services agencies, a direct letter to my landlord despite the property management company telling me they were handling it. I always stated, even when leaving messages, that if the barking continues, so will my calls as I cannot focus on work with the barking. And guess what???

Those inconsiderate neighbors disrupting my life sent me a fruit basket with an apology and asking if we could start over! Now, the fruit basket was cheap and disgusting, for sure (gross steriod-filled fruit with unnatural coloring) but those dickheads had to do it to appease me!!!

They also recieved multiple letters from the city, two of which were written warnings. A third and they can be legally evicted, in my city at least. Suddenly they cared about the incessant barking and howling their abnoxious basset hounds were making all day long!

And now they politely nod to me as they pass me by, instead of flipping me off. I fought the dumb dog owners – and I WON!! And you can too! With the help of law enforcement and city officials. Just like those yapping little dogs in your neighborhood, if you draw enough attention to the situation – something WILL change!
