Hi Lounging Ladies!

Gorgeous day outside but we're staying in!

I was a total slob yesterday and I loved every second of it!!! The hubby is sick. He has a cold, which in guy terms, means comparable to pneumonia and near death. He might not make it. He moans. He whines. And I think it is hilarious. But I actually don’t mind nursing him back to health.

I make him tea – green tea with real mint and ginger added and lemon. I become the witch doctor. I would throw in eye of newt if I had it. We lay like slobs on the couch, eventhough it is a gorgeous day outside. Luckily, we live in Socal where almost every day is sunny, so we don’t feel too guilty staying in.

We rent “I Love You Philip Morris” which is lame and way too much gay sex for my taste. My husband had a pained expression on his face too so I don’t think he was enjoying either. I guess non-straight people might feel the same way about straight love scenes but I do feel like it it didn’t really add to the story. Too bad because I think Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor are great actors. Oh well.

Then we watched “I Love You Man!” which is hilarious and one of the best silly comedies. I guess it is an “I love you” theme today. And as my husband and I snuggle up on the couch, it feels that way.

I also decide to make cookies. I LOVE baking and I had the dough in the fridge so why not. The recipe is courtesy of my neighbor Marilyn, who is an excellent cook and extremely generous person. I flipped over these sesame cookies and I had the recipe on my doorstep the very next day. She is so nice!!

These cookies are great served with anything really and also make nice tea cookies.

SESAME SEED COOKIES

1 cup butter (room temperature)

1 cup white sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup toasted white sesame seeds

TO MAKE:

With mixer, blend butter and sugar. Blend in egg and vanilla. In seperate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Add to butter mixture. Form into ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in fridge for one hour, or overnight. I had the dough in the fridge for a week and they still came out great!

BAKING:

Preheat oven to 350. Put sesame seeds in bowl. It’s important that they are toasted. You can simply put them on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Just watch to make sure they don’t burn. I bought already roasted sesame seeds – soooo easy.

Before they are flattened

Roll dough into walnut size balls and then roll in the sesame seeds. I made mine a bit larger, the size of doughnut holes. I’m like Texas when it comes to cookies – bigger is better.

Flatten each ball down with bottom of glass or measuring cup. Bake for 8-12 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

Bon Appetit!!!

Looks like the hubby isn't too sick for cookies!

Ladies – it is good to be a slob some days. Make sure you get rest. I am grateful that I can do this. I know some of my friends with kids would kill to have a day like this. I am going to enjoy them as long they last.
