HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE!!!

I hope you have a really fun holiday. For me, the 4th of July is as much a holiday as Easter is – it doesn’t represent anything particularly significant to me, as much as it is an excuse to have or go to a party and enjoy BBQ. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to live in this country. But I am not one of those die-hard Americans who thinks that America is the be-all end-all. I mean, what do you think America is after all? It is a combination of people from all around the world. It is the “It’s A Small World” ride at Disneyland and therefore, I respect and see good in all countries and all ethnicities.

I pity those Americans who have never been anywhere and just have blind faith that America is wicked awesome. You know who I am talking about – those people who thought “Freedom Fries” was a really wonderful idea. And I hope to stay far away from those people who choose to see the 4th of July as a glorified Mardi Gras and get as drunk as they possibly can and fist pump yelling “America yeah!!” and things like that while clutching their 20th beer.

That being said, enjoy the holiday with family and friends. I most definitely will eat a hot dog while watching the hot dog eating competition on TV at Coney Island. What’s more American than watching a fun eating contest, right? And don’t worry about calories. I hear that the same rules apply from Thanksgiving or vacation – they don’t count AT ALL!!! We will head down to the Huntington Beach parade which is one of the largest in the country. I love it because it is busy and fun but still plenty of room to get a good view and not feel crowded. Remind me to tell you about last year when I went up to a group of people and reprimanded them for letting their kids throw those little exploding snapper things INTO the parade marchers. Little bastards. And the parents didn’t even care. Can you imagine if they threw them and spooked one of the horses in the parade? This is why the GP drives me nuts. But moving on -  I LOVE fireworks. We live 15 minutes away from Disneyland where we can see fireworks any night of the week, so yes, we are spoiled but no matter how many times I see them, I’m still fascinated and happy!

You will be seeing a lot of Red, White, and Blue today and I so appreciate everyone who goes all out with the decorations. But I thought I would throw a little pink into the mix so you can have some variety!!

Pink toes on the beach!

Love the flip flops!

My Godaughter called this pink snow!
